The Problem: Coolant system failure is the second leading cause of roadside break down according to the transportation department, second only to flat tires. There is no other fluid in your vehicle that is designed to carry out more function than your Anti Freeze. Its designed to keep your vehicle running cool on the hottest summer day, as well as keeping your from freezing up in the dead of winter. Anti freeze also has to regulate the PH value of the coolant system so that the system does not get to acidic or to caustic and corrodes internal parts of the coolant system. Anti freeze is designed with a buffering agent from the manufacturer to help regulate the PH value of the system. The problem is when the fluid gets old it runs out of its buffering agent allowing the system to get to acidic with green coolant, or to caustic with Dexcool type coolants. Discoloration of the coolant is an indication that the PH of the system is incorrect and that internal components are starting to break down. Once the system has been jeopardized it is difficult to reverse the deterioration of the system.
The Solution: First, we install a premium coolant system cleaner which is poured directly into the coolant system prior to performing the exchange. The cleaner circulates in the system while the vehicle warms ups, it removes hard water deposits that collect on the ends of the coolant tubes, restricting the flow of coolant in the system. Then we hook up a coolant machine to the vehicle and remove the old coolant and replace it with a new 50/50 mix of anti freeze and H2O. The last step is to install a premium coolant system conditioner which is designed to boost the buffering package, add rust inhibitors and anti foaming agents.
